listen i don't care how sad clannad might be

they look so forgetin goofy it's hard to take it seriously
They could've tried to put the eyes more to the sides if they wanted too  :cookieMonster:

Anyway Jin ro or whatever is iirc a pre 00's movie and the animation is smoother than most animes there are out now today.
i've heard gate is pretty stuff
The forget did you just say? I wake up in the middle of the night just so I can watch the newest episode when it comes out.

I recolored our yandere queen because we could do whatever the forget we wanted in photoshop at school and it actually looks quite okay. Maybe even better than the original.

Also forgeted up the clothing on the left.

tbh I'd sell my soul for a Devilman reboot.

is there any anime that has this sort of feel you could recommend?

hmm. can't say so. there's not a lot of stuff like sakurasou. if you want sad feels then plastic memories/clannad obviously but i don't think you can find something as unique as that.

i heard welcome to the nhk is quite real.. but that's different

I hate to say this but im the same way. I find it hard to watch 80-early 2000s shows because of the artstyle. I will still most likely watch Cowboy bebop someday though.
I find it hard to watch Post 2000 Anime because all the cgi, fan service, lolis, and crappy stories.
