Just industrialcraft, buildcraft doesn't have diamond making.

I use Technic so I don't know which one it is

I just usually did either a 3x3, or 5x5 tunnel on the layer before bedrock starts appearing. Works out just fine for me.

If you dig straight down for at least sixty-four blocks, the map generator will regenerate a large diamond vein in the chunk you're currently digging straight down in. Pretty cool, I've been making some really big mine shafts with this technique.
