If you really want a sort of challenge I tend to pop out my starter and use a 3-evo-line thing from the start of the game instead
But depending how far you are in that might not be an option
I had one game where I ditched my grass guy and started with a seedot
this is where i learned to appreciate the fact that seedot evolves.
