We wish to ally with Nexius.

Nexia cautiously accepts, but denies you the right to send an ambassador into the Nexian homeland for fear of spying.
Communication should be done through the missionary settlement, which is a shorter trip for your couriers anyway.

Strikes against you:
 - Your empire is still heathen with no religion
 - Nexia is still bitter about the outcome of the conflict

Notes for you
 - Both Nexians and your people are of the same race (as opposed to the different skin color and facial shape of more southernly empires)
    - Nexians believe that Amnesh is with your people because of this, even if they do not love him back

What kind of an alliance is that?! Sounds more like a ceasefire.

Avalonian citizens have spoken in opposition to the "free relighion" laws, and wish to ban some religions within the confines of Avalonia, among the religions that the people wish to see benned are the state religions of Nexia and Aemilius. The Supreme Emperor of Avalonia has partially accepted these terms, making it illegal to openly practice either religion, and a capitol crime to preach the religion of Nexia, as well as to enter Avalonia as a worshiper of Amnesh. In an odd twist of fate, there are no worshipers of Amnesh within Avalonia's borders, and thus, they have been spared what one citizen called "inevitable and vicious persecution".

The Avalonian army quarantined outside the all-encircling wall seems to be doing well, and nobody not already infected seems to be coming down with it. Three cities are being built in the political area to the north of Avalonia for the inhabitance of the three classes of potentially inected army. None of them are upwind or within ten leagues of Avalonia's border.

The Supreme Emperor of Avalonia is being moved to a secure location, as "plague panic" kicks in, and Avalonians become disquieted. His location is not disclosed to the public, but it is rumored that he is in his mountain pallace, far to the south of Avalonia. If Oofer Villa is not an active nation, the Supreme Emperor may take refuge there, or possibly on another remote island, along with his most trusted guards and advisors.

The indians didn't react so drastically when half their population died of smallpox wtf lol

Nexia severs its alliance with Avalonia, denouncing them as simplistic people whom no god loves.

well forget the disease has barely spread
mitologia is very overprotective.

63 die from Aemilius.

129 die from Avalonia.

And it's a really close vote, so I'm resetting without Stay Ancient. What kind of timescales are you guys thinking?

1) When were Avalonia and Nexia allied? All i did was try to help once, then do my best to sabotage you later on when you seemed too brass skulled to exploit and bend to my will.

2) I prefer ancient overall, but if we are going to have to progress, week:year ratio for real time:RP time. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

I think one day should be one half of a month.

Avalonia offers Nexia 1,000 spears with iron heads. The Supreme Leader is quoted to have said: "Why not? They show an ability to cause great harm to potential enemies of Avalonia if given support."

I may have have misinterpreted that, based on my knowledge of how ancient empires usually dealt with eachother.

Oh god no don't make it any slower that one day to one year, jesus christ.  At that speed, technology will never advance into medieval, but it will be possible to do at least one or two things per day with troops.  Any slower, and we will have to declare what our army is going to do, then literally wait days in real time before we get results.  That is stupid.

Rumors of this sickness have reached the counsel. They unanimously agreed to close the border to everybody. Nobody is allowed to leave, or come in. Anybody showing signs of the sickness are quarantined and experimented on.

I set the poll as 1 Day = 1 Year or 1 Day = 6 months. With one week to a year we aren't going to advance at all, really.

The disease ain't messin' around now, you got lucky before. And it's spreading: Mitologia and Nexia are now at risk.

69,861 die from Avalonia.

3,785 die from Nexia.

3,785 die from Nexia.

wait what, I have 1000 people that are at a medium far distance from where the disease area is with hardly any contact with anyone else, and my far northern homeland doesn't have the population density for that deathrate to be possible...

Nexia has no trade with other nations, and Nexian religion dictates that a sick person must sit in silent and isolated reflection on the sins they have done to deserve their punishment.  They must continue to reflect, until they have discovered what they did wrong and how they must remedy it.  According to the teachings of Amnesh, they will know when they have found the answer because they will be cured.

The only way it could get so infected is if infected people actively tried to spread it.  Nexia is the absolute lowest risk place in the world.  Even lower risk than the barbarians who have some contact with other nations in raiding parties.

You had to get through two dice rolls to get there.

You had to get through two dice rolls to get there.

ok fine

my growth rate has been reduced to 5% down from 8% due to more isolationary measures being taken

contact with other empires continues as before: non-existant

farming yield is slightly reduced due to some farmers going into silent reflection even if they are not actually sick
The church of Amnesh has declared it is a sick person's duty to cleanse themselves of sin and that it is illegal to aid a sick person through their reflections.

There are rumors that tomcat's empire is responsible for the deaths and only wants the alliance to send in sick people to spread the disease.

In fact, no one from that empire or any empire had entered Nexia's borders.  It may be possible that a few people could have contracted it from barbarians during remote raids, but Nexian scholars correctly believe that a few small raids couldn't account for the spread of the disease.  Without any other logical conclusion, Nexia denounces tomcat's empire.

Closing borders to any and all.
Ordering patrols of the border to prevent spread of disease to Imperia.

Anyone caught entering Avalonia will be killed and burned.

70,000 deaths? That's ridiculous. That's like a tenth of my population wiped out. Also, I've taken better measures to contain the plague than anybody else. Nexus complained about realisticness, and now it's my turn to take a shot at it.

"God doesn't play dice." -Albert Einstein Yet for some reason, the RP host (who is in a sense, a god here) is. :/

Avalonians have been ordered to scatter, going into the uninhabited hills and like places, by family, burning the dead, and leaving the sick, bathing frequently, getting moderate exercise, and boiling their water. Any structured government now exists to keep the entire of Avalonia under quarantine, at least until the plague is over and done with.
