Not in the US, monopolies are (supposed to be) banned after what happened with Rockefeller taking over the oil market in the early 1900s.
What happened with Roosevelt is that he only broke or advocated for the breaking of monopolies that had a negative impact, while leaving the health ones alone.

I'd consider this a negative impact, wouldn't you?

This has to do with Apple's anti-competition status, while it doesn't have a very large effect, it does have an important one.

Apple is nowhere near a monopoly.

Guys, I like that you're talking about Apple positively and negatively, but I'm specifically looking for a few things:
- critique and feedback
- counter arguments to what I wrote
- negative actions of Apple
- positive actions of Apple

For example, Gambsy, it would've been better if you just posted a link, although even better just posted it in another thread.

Ever heard of Government granted monopolies?

Ever heard of Government granted monopolies?
Aren't those bound by law to do certain things? A monopoly that isn't fueled by the government has the freedom to do whatever they want until the government interferes.

apple is on a downhill slope anyway, steve jobs is dead and the 4s isn't competitive with other high-end smartphones. as far as their computers go, theyve never sold very many. mobile technology is where theyve actually done well and lately they haven't been impressing. if things dont change soon apple isnt going to do well.

i'm predicting sandisk taking place of apple in the future

i, for one, welcome our new sandisk overlords

yet we'll always have mindless sheep who think that apple is doing nothing wrong.

I've been monitoring their stocks, there capital value shot up from 390.50 in september to something like 424.30 recently. If anything is keeping them afloat its the iPhone and the legion of Apple fanatics who will buy anything with an Apple logo.
