Author Topic: Artillery cannons  (Read 4155 times)

Something like this,
It would reload slowly,
turn slowly
But it would do massive damage.
Like take out any vehicle in only one shot.
It would be fun to use this as an anti tank/anti aircraft weapon in TDMs

The complicated mechanics of how an ordinary artillery gun moves would be rather hard to do in Blockland.
How would this be done?

I would suspect it be done just like the pirate cannon or tank turret.
Except it cannot aim below a certain point, and can aim all the way up, save for a few degrees.
Maybe a bird's-eye-view camera of where your shell is going to land.

Or just blindfire like with the mortar weapon.

An artillery gun would only work as an AA gun for a WW1 TDM. Because that's the only time they where used that way.

It can also be used to repel tanks

Top down view could be a possibility.

It dosn't work the same. Mortars are fairly large. For this to be possible you would be sitting on top of the turret.
Unless you wanted some un-authentic mortar that dosn't look or function like a real one.

it would be like taking the pirate cannon, keeping the shell charge, and arch, and just remodel the projectile and the vehicle, right? If you shaped it right, it would work.

Shell charge sucks
but shell charge determines how far your shell will go. You could charge it up all the way to get a greater distance shot, or a little to get close range.

You determine how far the shell goes by how much you aim up
like in real life

real life =/= blockland
the more you aim up the higher the projectile goes, and that means more time it takes to fall down, more time means it could dissapear while in flight.
most of the projectiles dissapear after some time, so having it be shot straight up and fall back down won't work.

projectile lifetime

projectile lifetime
Exactly. You want to minimize the projectile from ending, so you make a pirate cannon effect. The projectile will be aimed and powered right. And I think with this way, it's harder to operate the cannon, which is good because then you would have to actually learn how to use it, instead of just jumping on one and shooting away.
Everything is better when you have to teach yourself how to do it.

alright, we need to find a code for the projectile time during flight.
