after taking another look at our size system i think it's unrealistic, has anyone ever built a ship 1000+ studs long?

No, and if anyone does it'll look like stuff because of the brick limit.
Rule of thumb is 24K bricks per 100 studs with a medium-detailed interior and about 3 decks for most stuff I make, so that'd be 240K bricks.

We normally fill up our ships so when you blow a hole in it it seems more natural. Now if we were to fill in only half the ship and give the ships a 3-7 brick thick hull all the extra room could be used for a few maintenance tunnels. A ship of 1000 bricks long could be made and can be made. The fact is we never include actual room for the needed systems.
