This guy on the blog link that deathrider sent is an idiot. He keeps making the same point over and over:

roughly 30% of donation money to IC makes it to these children. Versus around 90% of money given to the Red Cross or Unicef, making it to the people that need it.

They do some good stuff, which is nice, but it's a scam.

I for one would be fine with Saddam still being alive, but removed from power / thrown in prison as an example. Without the, you know, killing part.

By the way, only 30c in the dollar makes it anywhere near africa, and out of that much of it goes to various army's. Not really my idea of huge change.

Actually, bullstuff. The first time the US tried to attack him, he beheaded their special forces and killed over 1000 civilians in retaliation.

Then the entire countries army mobilised against him, but they tend to do this thing called "stealing"...oh and "raping" just as much as Kony's army did.

Then the USA sent in some troops when they found out Uganda's got oil, and Chinas been sending support into that region.

30c in every dollar gets to africa, and much of that goes to armies, not children.

So. Facts. Yes the "cause" is great, but IC is a load of horsestuffe.

It's an effort to drum up support for US/NATO "humanitarian intervention" into African countries such as Uganda.
The US has vested strategic interests in this region (countering Chinese expansion and securing oil and resources).

I dislike the video because of it's blatant attempt at manipulating emotions, especially through the use of children.

I hope that there will be an effort to properly document and present the opposing side to this whole thing, so that we can actually look at this issue as informed people, not through this fad activism angle that we're about to see explode.

I don't really have an opinion on the movement. But good lord, I could possibly make a campaign to have people vote whether or not I should buy a Popsicle or an ice cream cone and people WOULD STILL spot a conspiracy behind everything about it even if one wasn't there.
