already planning on uninstalling elementary OS, I seem to never get on with any Linux distributions.

it seems to lag, even though the first couple of boot-ups didn't cause any loss in framerates, after installing something it's loosing framerates for minimal to no reason.

Yeah, eOS tries to be lightweight, but its window manager, desktop environment and compositor all coupled together like that are pretty much a ten-ton truck compared to XFCE and others.
