Perhaps you should hollow it out and turn it into headgear for protection.

Description of the beasts head: It resembles a bear, with a far more longer snout than any normal bear. It has Pointed ears and pitch black eyes.

You hollow out the Beast's head and you turn it into proficient headgear. It's laced with strips of metal and leather, however the beast's features are still apparent.

However, the bard still wishes to join and help you, should you accept, he shall assist you with his deadly accuracy with knives. Should you not however his suicidal tendencies shall grow.
