Author Topic: What do you guys know about scar tissue, needle sterilization and shrapnel?  (Read 3185 times)

What ever gave you the idea put put a basket ball net which you throw a ball at near a fragile mirror?

I don't know, I was around 8 years old. It was a foam basketball too but it wasn't the basketball that broke it.

I'd tell you to post pictures but whether the rules are fine with that is meh. How big was the piece of glass?

There's nothing really to see, it's just a scar. The skin healed a long time ago but I still feel like it's hollow on the inside.

How big was the piece of glass?

I wouldn't know but judging from the size of the scar it could be as big as a penny.

Tony, to answer your question from earlier, basically any biological material that may have bacteria growing upon it, which is basically everything.

Rubbing alcohol may not have been enough. You should go to the hospital and make sure you didn't accidentally infect it.

Also, that scraping noise could be the shard scratching your bone. I would have that checked out by radiology to make sure that it isn't affecting your bone structure.

What if you trip or something and it breaks and you stab yourself? D:

scar tissue is tissue that has been made by your body quickly to minimize the risk of infection while still giving a permanent solution, because scar tissue is skin tissue with bigger cells. given enough time, scar tissue is replaced by regular tissue, but this takes a very, very long time. most scars won't heal before you die or stop being healthy enough for your body to have it prioritized in front of keeping your bowels closed. also, your body technically is kind of like an onion, what with layers of skin, fat, and muscle.

I'm pretty sure that would sterilize it. The standard way is boiling the thing you're going to be using though.

No I mean there is no scraping noise. I feel something scraping my inside.

Tony is becoming an zomba

Sounds like the tissue around the glass is probably dead. No blood flow to the area, and the nerves around the area don't feel anything, do they?

Well I wouldn't had stuck a safety pin an inch deep into my leg if I didn't feel anything.

Now here's a mistake I just made. I took a safety pin and wiped it with rubbing alcohol a few times and stuck it in the scar an inch deep to check if the scar has no pus, am I going to get infected now? This wouldn't be the first time I sterilized something wrong but I never got infected from it neither.
probably no problem, you've had your vaccinations for tetstar fish and whatever else people get these days, right?
assuming so, any infection is pretty trivial to cure, so just go see a doctor about it if anything shows up. he'll prescribe some antibiotics if he needs to, and whatever you had should go away within a few days
Strangest thing that happened when I stuck the needle in the scar.
I felt almost nothing, there was no pain. If I tried to prick other areas of my skin it would hurt.
No blood
was the cut deep?
nerves don't grow back iirc, or at least not in scar tissue
so I would imagine the same thing for blood vessels and capillaries
The further the needle went in it felt like I was piercing another layer? It was like piercing an onion that had a few layers hollow in between.
there are a lot of layers of stuff in your body
skin, fat, and muscle are probably the only things you would find at an inch deep there
probably fat though, because I'm pretty sure muscle would hurt
not trying to call you fat, everyone has fat
and the people with really small amounts of it and a lot of muscle tend to be rather ugly

Listen, just get surgery. If you want it out, you should go for it.

the glass should have been out for quite a while by now, if it happened twelve years ago
which is why I've assumed that it isn't still inside him

Symptoms

The symptoms depend on the location and cause of the gangrene. If the skin is involved, or the gangrene is close to the skin, the symptoms may include:

Discoloration (blue or black if skin is affected; red or bronze if the affected area is beneath the skin)
    Foul-smelling discharge
Loss of feeling in the area (which may happen after severe pain in the area)

If the affected area is inside the body (such as gangrene of the gallbladder or gas gangrene), the symptoms may include:

    Confusion
    Fever
Gas in tissues beneath the skin
    General ill feeling
    Low blood pressure
    Persistent or severe pain

Well I doubt the tissue is completely dead. I only have what I bolded as part of my symptom.

I still feel pain in some areas around that spot so maybe it's just some sections I can't feel pain at.
