Author Topic: Nuclear Post-Apocalyptic stuff  (Read 962 times)

We need more nuclear post-apocalyptic games like Metro 2033 and Fallout.

And no, STALKER is not post-apocalyptic.

Discuss ideas about post nuclear apocalyptic games

I can't wait for the new Metro, really liked the first one.

I really hated the fact that it was not open-roam but only linear

nuclear apocalyptic games are meant for open-roam

Wasteland is finally getting a sequel. Wasteland was one of Interplay's older roleplaying games that eventually led to the creation of the Fallout series.

I haven't played Metro 2033, but I disagree. Pretty much anything can be either (with notable exceptions) if done properly. And apparently, it was.
It pretty much depends on the feeling wanted in it, I suppose. I could explain better if I'd actually played Metro because examples. :c

I feel like it got super played out already (much like zombies). It really became a fad.

I'd much rather have natural disaster games with some sort of super-natural twists.

For example, a game where you're trying to survive in a flooded town/city. You'd use boats and rafts and stuff to go between houses and such, creating a network of bridges and stuff. You are completely alone for a long time into the game, just trying to survive (much like minecraft minus the mobs). Eventually, you encounter some sort of adversary, whether it is just one other person who is fighting you for resources, a gang of raiders, or some supernatural force (fish people or something). You'd have to use all the stuff you'd constructed to survive. Also, the game wouldn't be super weapon heavy. It'd rely heavily on traps and stuff as well as bluffing and talking.

become a game developer and take all of my money

That's the dream. Unfortunately, I can't code or whatnot, so that puts a real stopper on things.

Fallout 3 was fun.
Definitely. Took away a year from me ;3

The scenery for post apocalyptic games are easy to make, because all you have to do is shove a few destroyed buildings here and there and throw in some sand and rocks, maybe 1 or 2 bunkers somewhere.

Or you could have miles of sand/lifeless soil and rock with a few relics of humanities past crumbling/rusting/covered in dust/ ect.

It needs to have quick exploration if you have miles of nothing.
