Author Topic: looking into buying headphones?  (Read 3062 times)

Do not buy earbuds unless you just want to listen to some music and stuff in public

Do not buy beats

Do not buy skullcandy, and everybody shut up about them

Do not buy turtlebeach unless they are for gaming in which case it's acceptable

Basically www.sennheiser.com
You don't even need to buy an overly expensive pair

If you're looking for an affordable <$100 pair, I just bought these and they're rather nice.

If you are looking for cheaper earbuds, get the Apple's in-ear headphones for $79. They are duel driver so they don't sound like crap. One would think they are overpriced (being an Apple product), but dual driver earbuds usually cost $200+.

For headphones always look for pro audio brands like Shure, Audio-Technica and Sennheiser. These brands may be more expensive, but your actually for a high quality product as opposed to a fashion statement.

sennheiser headphones are the best, skull candy sucks and beats are horribly overpriced just because they have a rapper's name attached to them

Fun Fact: Beats are made by a company that sells $300 HDMI cables.

it's a shame people make money off something like that

I bought my HDMI cables from the dollar store for $12... They work beautifully.

Works nice except the audio is a little slow

I had skullcandy, until the left earbud stopped working

Other than that I loved them

I posted a link to arguably the leader in audio playback devices homepage, for him to browse and find a pair he likes. I didn't post a pair of headphones.

This.
It seems like OP is just trying picking them base on looks.

Alright. Time for blocklands leading audiophile to /rant again.

Beats; beats are decent headphones, they're just poorly built and over branded to hell. If they costed 200 dollars less, they'd be great. But you're paying for the little B on the ear cups. With the specs of those headphones, you shouldn't pay more than $250.

Skullcandys; skullcandys are great on the budget headphones. They provide ample sound quality, with a decent bass. They're incredibly affordable (when you're talking about the earbuds, the on ear and over the ear headphones are rubbish and overpriced).

My personal recommendations; if you've ever seen me talking about headphones, you see me rave about AKG. They're a brand from Harman-Kardon. They can run fairly high, but I promise they'll be the best looking and sounding OTE headphones. Now, if you're more into earbuds, then my recommendation is House of Marley. They are (to my knowledge) the only headphone brand to use wood casings around the speakers for better acoustics. They also go with a great cause, much of the purchase goes to charity. Their main downside is that they have the generic red yellow green Rastafarian colors on the cable. Though that doesn't bother me.

might as well lock the topic, for beachbum has given us all the knowledge we need
