Oh don't mind this, it's just government takin' a stuff on the constitution.

also, more on the topic of this, isn't there a little line somewhere in the constitution/bill of rights that says we can replace the government if they start trying to pass unconstitutional bills like limiting our freedom of speech and privacy, etc?
Yeah, piracy is protected by free speech. Don't mind this.

I read it when the thread first started. Then I forgot lol. Whoops.

Anyway. The constitution doesn't and shouldn't give you privacy on other people's property.

this bill
has nothing to do
about piracy.
it's privacy we're talking about here, not piracy. we're not trying to protect piracy here, just our privacy from the government coming in and finding everything out about you, whether or not it's personal.

I said privacy in my last post boyo.

the "on other people's property" part makes it sound like you were talking about privacy over piracy.
wait i'm confused now

Everything you post on the Internet is data stored on a remote server. That server is owned by someone, usually the company who owns the website. You are essentially saying that you should be able to put data on those companies' computers and they shouldn't be allowed to look at it or sell it. It's their property.

we're simply saying the government shouldn't have the right to snoop in there. i hardly think anyone cares about the company because they can't really do much with it.

The company can already legally give it to the government (Most EULAs give them ownership of information you give them). Also, who cares if the government can tell if you are emailing about blowing up the White House? It's not like they are going to intercept letters you send to your mom.

everyone has something to hide, and most of us keep these secrets hidden in our technology. If we generate DATA on OUR paid-for network, it's OUR property. we PAY them to store this information.

I guess it's time to bunker down in my Tor browser, and prepare for an internet apocalypse.

No. They will send a SWAT team to your door and nobody will hear from you again.

i like how some of you are shocked by this.
the president himself announced that the senater who wrote the first one was going to write this one. and this was announced the very day they dropped sopa.

they all want this, it will happen somehow.
