Author Topic: Shooter games are just not engaging  (Read 2952 times)

I would recommend BF3, but that stuff isn't

Bioshock Infinite doesn't seem to have boring gameplay.

I mean how could it be boring if your flinging on rails, attacking zeppelins, fighting giant spiffy robots, and using goddam crows at the top of the sky?

Far Cry series is also pretty good aswell, it forces you to think alot before you attack and to survive on your own. I'd say check out the 2nd one but the 3rd one looks very well done.

People don't want a story, they just want to shoot. Which is why DOOM, Duke Nukem3d and Wolfenstein 3D worked so well.

Doom3 sucked ass with that stuffty lighting gimmick. Duke Nukem Forever still isn't the same classic Duke Nukem 3d and Wolfenstein 2012 is a piece of stuff.

I'll take my shooter with absolutely no story over the shooter with a story.

half life 3 might save us ; ;
i hope with half life 3, they make a effort to have half the game as multiplayer. rather then all campaign.

no hl2 deathmatch wasnt good enough. it was simply a tool for modding and private servers. not real valve gameplay.

I believe Half-Life 2 started the lame shooter genre. Enemy AI misses on purpose, infinite ammo crates, 100+ explosive barrels just on one map, health literally thrown at you oh and my favorite checkpoints every 5 feet as if we are incapable of manually saving.

Tony, we all know about your hatred for HL2, so stop bringing it up whenever someone says "Half-Life"

ARMA 3 CANT WAIT
I need: CPU, GPU and maybe a complete overhaul.

Ontopic: I know a RTS thats shorta makes you think. Im not sure if its what your looking for but try the demo of Frozen Synpase.

I honestly thought I spent too much money on that game, it's basically TF2 with better graphics.

Too bad TF2 is loving horrendous.

^probably plays cod
Shut the forget up.
I play (and actually ENJOY playing) COD, TF2, Blockland, and Minecraft. I am an intelligent person compared to your idiotic stereotypes.
Stop being an starfish, and actually take the time to think before making a post like that.

Far Cry 2 sucked stuff, it was fun f or a little bit but most of the fun just consisted of running over wild animals in buggies. There were the same 3 side missions that you did the same thing for every single time.

I like playing a game like that to every once in a while, that's why I liked Mercenaries so much because it was literally run around being invincible and nuke the stuff out of everyone. But when every single shooter is like that, what fun is there? It doesn't need to have a good story, it just needs to be engaging and more then just take cover and shoot.

Rage for no reason. I didn't stereotype all cod players, so stop with this 'playing the victim' bullstuff.

Every person that does A also does B != Every person that does B also does A.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was extremely good when it came to making an engaging experience. On the normal or higher difficulties, you really had to think about how to about a situation, because you couldn't just go guns blazing into a room. You had barely any ammo and dying was easy. You would really have to think about how you would want to approach a situation.

And the original Deus Ex was even better about this, you would get absolutely wrecked unless you VERY carefully plotted out how to get past the security of an area, or how to manage to isolate guards and pick them off one by one.

Too bad TF2 is loving horrendous.
TF2 is so loving balanced. It's fantastic.
