Author Topic: Zombies in the Bluzone** [[CLOSING]]  (Read 581082 times)

In some ways, I agree. In others, I don't.
The key feature that keeps Bluzone together is it's community. The whole "people interacting with each other" in a different world is what keeps bringing people back. It sets them a story, an experience that could not be achieved in other ways. Life as a person in a crumbling society constantly attacked by military forces and zombie raids. But there's one slight problem.
Zombies aren't zombies, they're just petty obstacles that die with one hit of a crowbar. In my opinion, this should be different. The first flaw is the zombie's AI, they should form hordes and slowly crawl around the city, where as now they spin in circles and hop like bunnies. Two, is the zombie's health. You could have a clothes hanger and knock down 3 zombies in a second, I mean, seriously. Guns however, take two shotgun round's worth to blow open a head. Third, is the community's reaction to the zombies. Normally they'd charge straight to the zombie and finish it with a single hit, but I mean, come on, not everyone is a professional gunner. People should get scared at the sight of a zombie, they should react by staying low and keeping quiet, trying not to attract the zombie's attention. Of course though, the zombie's AI has eyes on the back of it's head.
To me Bluzone is more of a "Oh god there are two armies fighting above our heads" Instead of "The apocalypse is here, we should find food, water, weapons and a barricaded home". I really hope this doesn't offend anyone, especially Kniaz, and I hope you take note that I'm just sharing my opinion :).
To add to this idea, perhaps using local chat/radio near zombies could alert them of your presence.
It would make the RP really neat.
Yeah, but part of it is, AI cannot RP. You cannot RP hiding from a zombie if the zombie is an AI bot that stalks you and kills you anyway. Therefore, I think it might work best if there were certain players with a "claws" weapon or something (not mutalid claws) who RPed as the zombies.
stuff idea. Now, in order to host, you need a super admin and 10 different admins to be a fraction of the zombies on the server. Fantastic. No, we need better AI.
I suggested that guns should be one or two shot kills on zombies (or head-shots should always be a one hit kill but body shots would be more) but they instantly attacked the idea and absolutely hated it. They don't want to change it just because it's always been this way (fascism (just kidding (but really))). i see what you mean, i typically rely on getting a melee weapon for zombie killing in particular.
Also it's not just the zombies, it's the build too. I know you're all probably crushed to hear it, due to the amount of work that's gone into it, some very recent; but the events are repetitive. I've witnessed people trying to counter this feeling within them, but the 'new' events are short and have no legacy.
If none of you agree with me, by all means don't waste your time.
I'm just saying what I think, so perhaps other peoples' voices are heard through me.

Maybe zombie rp isn't really perfect for blockland, especially with the reliance on AI.. but yeah we need harder zombies, military bots that make you afraid to casually stroll across the pipe to a city full of zombies, or maybe the zombies could be terrifying enough. TBH in a real zombie apocalypse scenario I would go nowhere alone.

Maybe we could just steal Dayz's AI...

Unless we create a voice chat mod along with the regional chat and distribute it on the forums, I doubt we'll have time to RP when zombies are finding us.

I voted LOTS because Abram. If Abram is really dead (I can't tell if you're kidding or not) then I retroactively change my vote to LOTS AND LOTS
poll says Kaphonaits and not Abram.

Bill can't read. :(

Have I been doing it wrong all this time
lol u sily

Anyway. Another thing is really the hosting. You hear it so often, but it's a legitimate problem. There are 16 admins and only 3 or so of them ever host.
I know your counter argument is that "Our admins aren't machines" but I feel like hosting is subconsciously discouraged throughout the administrating team. You make it out to be something scary and heavy, so people think twice about it when they want to host. Especially now that there are private sessions, they could be up at least every day. If there are only trusted members there, admins don't even have to be present… It's a new concept, and maybe I should wait more before I complain.
So these are the things I think need fixing to prevent Bluzone from remaining monotonous:
-Zombies
-Build
-Hosting

I feel like a bum for complaining, but hey who knows, if I didn't do this maybe you'd be barraged by an unhappy populace later who would be far more relentless than me.

It's not. You just don't understand how much time and effort it actually takes to consistently run a Bluzone for long periods of time and keep everyone happy.

This won't be a problem once Lugnut fixes Admin hosting. I'll be hosting private sessions as much as possible.. Unless that becomes a problem. I know that others are usually busy with their lives unless Kniaz has some sort of maximum hosting time or something. I know there are huge gaps between hosting times and I'm going to try and fill those up. The only problem with private hosting is that not many people will come. But hey, it's a start.

Ok, you guys clearly don't understand. I'm done here.

How can one abuse their power as a zombie anyways? Most zombies mindlessly run towards a human and try to kill it anyways.

Biting people immediately, power rping (The zombies continues to run 60mph even after 40 shots to the knee) or people could just rp "shot in the head" to the zombies all the time.

DOUBLE POST but

I'm willing to host a private server. Anyone on here willing to join?

Server's closed.

I couldn't change the password or anything.

Someone tried hosting without Lugnut's fixes.
