Atheists make up a minority in the United States. Most people believe in some sort of higher power whether or not they worship it through established institutions.

Also, a major reason as to why I became an atheist is the freedom of information and for the pursuit of truth no matter where it takes me. To simply discredit someone else's beliefs simply because they are contrary to your own or are just moronic in your eyes is simply not a valid form of reasoning. To me atheism isn't about opinions or speculations, its about collecting evidence and making decisions based on that evidence be it historical evidence, lack of physical evidence, or philosophical ideals. Atheists who discredit religion without a form of evidence or philophical insight are no better than close minded theists who try to stomp out other opinions and beliefs.

And the reason athiests are a minority is because it's easier for the others to believe in a higher power than believe that the world was created from nothing.

But Thar, you do not have to be athiest to be open-minded. People of all religions are sometimes skeptical and doubt, yet after brown townysis of the facts, faith is reaffirmed.

However much nerdy gay it might sound I would rather believe/pretend to believe in something like that because it is just flat out cooler than any other religion.

So many things wrong with this post. Rave should link us the post so we can troll him.

Someone lock this, it's only going to start a religious war and people will troll him.

I second this vote.

Ahh but that's not the only reason. The other main reason were the philosophical problems and the fact that Christianity resembles religions from ancient cultures in India, Persia, Egypt, Greece, etc etc. The reason for this is the idea of Jesus, apostles, the resurrection, and so forth are based on astrology and when I happen to find myself at church, I recognize so many references to celestial bodies and their movements. Some of them are so painfully obvious it amazes me no one else notices.

believe that the world was created from nothing.
You're kidding, right?

I can't find the picture quote, but it goes along atheism and saying;
Quote
So everything came from nothing, from a tiny particle in the universe,
nothing came from something and that something was nothing and out of
nothing came everything and now everything came from that one something.
Yeah that makes sense too.
That's not entirely what It said, but that's the concept of the picture, which I kind of chuckled at. People say God came from nothing, and yet this tiny particle came from nothing as well.
If I was a different person I'd drop all religions and just be a free soul, but naw.

Nope.  We don't have a very good explanation, but we don't pretend we do, either.
