That's not how it works. If it really is a laser blade then the light source should be the blade. Also the fact that it's pillowshaded doesn't convey the image of it being a laser

Then...wouldn't that make it look pillowshaded? I mean, the source of light is in the center of the top of the... erm, guard? So the blade would look pillowshaded?

(also all those laser swords in my previous post kinda look like that SOOO)

What? I'm saying that the blade is indeed the source of light here, except the handle doesn't make it look that way

The handle is forgeted up in all honesty. It has shade from the top to the bottom right corner, and yet before that layer of shade it also has shine on some parts, it makes no sense

Either way the reason why the Megaman blades are like that is because those sprites have colored outlines, therefore the blades do too, and it in fact looks fine or if not good. However it is pretty convincing that cyber's swords have no outlines, so what would be for the best is to give the light blades no outlines either

ok... yeah? I was talking more that because of the fact that it is light coming from the center, the blade would look pillowshaded, sorta?

What? Outline? Um...
I'm not sure that having colored outlines is relevant, X3 Zero has black(ish) outlines. X4/X5 Zero doesn't have outlines (at least I don't think so).

so what would be for the best is to give the light blades no outlines either

Wha? It's not an outline?

Depends on whether the person want's a holographic "laser" weapon or somethin like a lightsaber/infinitely sharp cutting tool.

This demonstrates the former

Char's example of Zero's blade demonstrates the latter

I meant as in, the style cyber approaches for the orange blade would fit something more like the megaman sprites, not the non-outlined style of his

pageloss
it's nice looking albeit my lack of gun knowledge!
the other ones were good as well

that looks tight as hell

Making a game set in a hat shop, but I'm having trouble with drawing the background
Any suggestions as to how I would make an aesthetically pleasing interior wall?

pickles arting is hard

are the outlines meant to be that thick?

are the outlines meant to be that thick?

Generally you aren't supposed to blockify the corners of curves

not bad, certainly better then my first attempts, but I'd recommend erasing "thick areas" aka the L shaped corners

i dunno, i just always do it like that for whatever reason
