Making a game set in a hat shop, but I'm having trouble with drawing the background
Any suggestions as to how I would make an aesthetically pleasing interior wall?
I actually don't have any ideas on the interior wall but I can suggest this

The hats on the shelves are pillowshaded, where the light source is either coming from the center of the sprite or vice versa. even though I'm guessing they're just placeholders, but I'm throwing this out here so you can take care of it

here's a tutorial that explains what pillowshading and how to avoid it, hope this helps

also hi blook c:
pickles arting is hard

Very neat, but like the others said, you're supposed to refine the lines and make sure none create any square corners, otherwise your sprites would look messy and unclean

Er, that doesn't really apply in this case.  Char is using square-corner-type lines consistently, to the point that it's basically the style.  It's not unlike a lot of Super Mario Bros 3. sprites, in fact.

I agree, disregard what I said on my other post then

I see, that's a good point

I was gonna say that I couldn't really see anything wrong with it if that was the style...

Yes it was from an existing picture, but it does look like it could have been made with pixel art.

Yeah you kinda just took that image and applied a filter to it.

You don't even post on these forums a lot so any credibility you have just went down the drain to me. :P
