I hate non-draft. It just doesn't make sense playing a match if I can't forward plan with my rune set and champion pick

So play and adapt to all situations.
I think it makes you a lot more flexible if you know how to play with the same setup in different situations.

That's just not how the game works unfortunately. When you play blind pick you're gambling with fate and your chances of winning suddenly depend a lot more on luck than skill where as in draft pick it's a fair team enviroment where both teams have an equal chance to win before the first ban.

I'm beginning to be able to fight anything with a moderate chance of winning as Veigar.

Even Morg
Even Fizz
Sometimes even Akali
Just not Malphite.
