I get raged at hardcore whenever I'm not participating in teamfights (even when playing tristana)
lanes are also almost constantly at a point where I cannot safely farm them :/

Also, just did a bot game in which I just farmed as Tristana vs. a Tristana bot. Didn't leave lane until I have 5.6k. Still barely averaged 10 cs per minute, or one every six seconds.

Yeah, it's really easy to forget.

You should try to sort of actively remind yourself that you have them.
*Walking to your lane: "I HAVE A loving GUNBLADE. I MUST USE IT WHEN I GET A CHANCE."

*As soon as a fight initiates: "USE THE forget DAMN GUNBLADE."

Thats what I used to do, and after a while using the item actives came naturally to me, especially because I smartcast them.

Of course you don't have to do that, but items can make a pretty big difference in a game.

It is actually harder to farm in bots than in normals.
 - Bots are stupidly aggressive so you have to harass them off of you instead of lasthitting
 - Bots are sucky so you usually get caught up killing them instead of farming
 - People who play bot games don't care so supports will auto-attack/steal farm

Because you're farming one lane. You're supposed to farm all 3.
