Author Topic: The Earth is NOT spinning! Don't listen to those liar scientists!  (Read 4444 times)

Wow, please enlighten us with this controversial information
Just do what I did and google 'Mark 4:10-12 meaning'.
Every source I found said it means that Jesus was deliberately confusing people so they couldn't obtain salvation.
Which is the opposite of what any Christian will tell you Jesus stands for

EDIT: If you have a problem with people speaking in a metaphorical dialect, then don't open up a shakespear.
The problem isn't the 'metaphoricalness' it's that the meaning makes no sense coming from the character

If the 'metaphoricalness' was just how people talked at the time, it's obvious that has changed. A logical, all-knowing, all-powerful god should fix his book, and could do so easily, rather than punishing those who do not understand it

Plus the metaphors are only half of what I was referring to.
The other half is summarized nicely in this image.

Having a set of rules to go by is great if they're the right rules.
Except religion is not required for these rules

Not necessarily. We shouldn't generalize against all religions; while it can be used to control the masses (i.e the Vatican) it is also a great tool for enlightenment. Having a set of rules to go by is great if they're the right rules. But if you try to impose these rules on people who don't believe in your rules, you're probably a douchebag. I can recall before the 4th century Christianity was pretty calm and about enlightenment, but I saw that on the history channel so it could be total bs.

If you're only nice to people so you can be rewarded in the afterlife, you're doing it wrong.

I stopped at 10 minutes. How does this guy tackle that, if te earth was not spinning, that it would take an entire year for a day to go by?

"Christ killers"

Remember those?

wow, I'm now a die hard christian cause of this, let me devote my life to a loving god that doesn't excist!1!

I'm offended.

You should be.

This video is so offensive to every intelligent person everywhere.

There should be an Intellectual Hazard warning on here somewhere...

Except religion is not required for these rules
Did I claim it was? Religion CAN be a way for people to be nice, even if it's only so they'll have happy times forever.

While I agree, it's better to be nice to get a reward than to not be nice at all.

I don't know what that is. Explain?

They do it for the reward of eternal life in heaven, not the reward of happiness itself, and the feeling you get when you make another person feel good.

Thats the biggest amount of bullstuff I've ever heard. Everyone doesn't just follow a religion to get into heaven, sure some people DO, but grouping everyone into one group is just being arrogant. Atheists complain about this all the time, yet they refer to Christians as one big group who all have to do the EXACT same thing and all act the EXACT same way. Its pretty stupid.

Holy stuff.  I wish I didn't watch that.

Stop being a douche.  Be nice because it is the right thing to do, not because you get some reward at the end.  Children do things because mommy and daddy will give them candy if they do.  Don't act like a handicapped child.

You guys have obviously been listening to doctor evil again...

It's ironic when I hear religious people say they are morally superior to me because they read the Bible or whatnot. Thats means they need a book to tell them not to murder and steal. Religion doesn't really make people calmer; it's just a way to control gullible people.

30 seconds in the topic.

It seems the only reason they distrusted the idea in the first place is because they said it was 'told by " scientists "', which makes this even more sad because they're too narrow-minded to let science and religion co-exist.
