Author Topic: Instantly permaban anybody with rainbow script active  (Read 2258 times)

I would like this, but isn't perma-banning a bit too harsh? It should just be a 1-minute ban with the reason saying something like "This server is running an anti-rainbow player script. Please disable it before returning." or something.

And each time they come back with it their ban length could multiply by 4, so thir time would be 16 minutes, and so on

Because they like how it looks and want to?
its not that good because it requires a string of event thingies or whatever and it creates small yet noticable lag for some people

The default game already has functionality which removes that lag.

I permaban for funkyshirt on my server. Definitely supporting this.

Also, there are decals out there that apparently make you invisible too. I once was faced with a cheater that was using this on Heed's siege last week.

the 'default game' has functionality which prevents funkyshirt from running, but people have made multiple workarounds. the mod appears to be dying though, thank goodness.

No it doesn't. It has functionality that prevents it from causing any issues. With the newest version of Blockland there is no reason you should ban for it.

I have a version of funkyscript which changes the avatar very gradually - it only sends an avatar update to the server once per minute and the color might go from red to yellow in about an hour and a half. How would you detect that as anything different from someone who just changes their avatar a lot?

I can understand preventing it... but banning? Wow.

perma ban is a little extreme, how about the host can set the time.
But beware, I have a feeling funky face is around the corner (face changes)

Banning seems really harsh, especially permabans.
Also the rainbow player script sends avatar change requests before spawning, so the warning wouldn't do any good.

I'm pretty sure that only people who have downloaded the decals would see them

Wrong. This happened on Heedicalking's server and I witnessed it myself. A player named Exrouse claimed to have a decal that made him, his weapon and his nametag completely invisible and unable to be seen. He kept sniping me and whenever I did something as much as move, he would act as if he was right next to me, questioning and talking about everything I did. I don't know how it is possible but it is and it exists out there. I talked with him over IRC and he said he had been standing right in front of my turret the entire time, which explains everything.

Avatar changes are now limited to 1 per second - this is to disable the "funky shirt" script which I have received a million complaints about.
This is what I meant.

Wrong.
Unless it was changed it a recent patch and I didn't notice it, I know for a fact that you can't see other players' decals unless you've downloaded them yourself.
Even if you could, decals/faces only cover the chest/face and this would not explain how their entire avatar, weapon, and name were invisible.

They weren't.

Just read this.
I might tell you there is a possibility to hack the packets sent to server.
The server will then think you are host.
You can then open mission editor.

That might be how he REALLY did it.
I know what I talk about.
You CAN hack Blockland.
Mold.
Is this PM supposed to mean anything?

Regardless, I know it doesn't seem possible but I am still inclined to believe it. I don't know how it works but it does, I was there, you weren't. It happened and I saw it, er, didn't see it.

A complaint for any rainbow player insta-kicker.
In order to change your rainbow player settings, you have to enter a game. If you enter a game, you have to go to the trouble of loading first, then disabling it, and hoping that the server doesn't have the kicker.
I personally used to have one foot change color, and it got me kicked. Nobody ever complained about it.
