Wrong - Macs come shipped with MacOS
...Thanks captain obvious.  PC means "personal computer".  It's become a misused term thanks to Apple's stuff-chucking marketing though.

Coda, all Windows IDEs suck.
Sublime Text works fine for me. Visual studio isn't too bad either although I haven't used it for a while.

They also contain a special authentication unit which mox won't run without.

IBM stole the "PC" back in the 80s:
Quote from: Wikipedia
Alongside "microcomputer" and "home computer", the term "personal computer" was already in use before 1981. It was used as early as 1972 to characterize Xerox PARC's Alto. However, because of the success of the IBM Personal Computer, the term PC came to mean more specifically a microcomputer compatible with IBM's PC products.
But arguing about the definitions is stupid. There are so many terms that can mean different things depending on the context. You just have to go with it.

Windows computer's tend to have better prices than a Mac with comparable specs. However, Macs make up for the extra price with much better build quality. Build quality might not be much for a desktop PC (unless you care about how it looks), but for laptops build quality is really important because you want something that doesn't fall apart. If I where to get a new Laptop, I would defiantly choose a Mac.

Mac OS X is much more stable and secure than Windows operating systems. But Windows 7 is still a very slick operating system compared to previous versions of Windows. Of course the biggest advantage of Windows is the greater software availability, especially with games. However, the Mac gaming market is growing, with companies like Valve and EA (even though most of EA's games suck) making Windows/OSX games.

Yeah I'll pay double the price for underspecced crap which I'll have to replace fairly soon anyway because it's too weak because it doesn't break as early.

Double the price is way to exaggerated.

I've seen some comparisons that say you can get a Mac laptop for less, but I still won't argue that it will cost up to couple hundred dollars more depending on what exactly you put on it.

i hate using macs, i'm forced to use them at school

:(

You pay for the brand image and the build quality, as with most premium brands. Just because you can't afford it, it doesn't make it stuff. Image and quality might not be important to nerds who just care about how much RAM a system has, but to normal people how things look and how long they will last without having to perform DIY repairs are important purchase decision makers.

from my experience macs are way more reliable than most windows computers.

hahah enjoy your over expensive piece of stuff.

enjoy your cheap piece of stuff, at least mine will last until the year is over.

You have no clue what you're talking about.
Don't do silly things like look up research and you won't get viruses, and warranties do exist for all computers.
-Also, apparently if a computer isn't a mac, it can't look nice :S-

You realize the only thing that is different between a Mac and a PC branded computer is that one uses OSX and the other uses Windows 7. The parts that they use are made by the same companies, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, etc. The computer itself is not more reliable. It's just the OS. And that depends on your own opinion.

I have a Mac Mini which sits in the corner of my desk. Haven't used it for a year...

Send it to me, I'll put it to good use.

So she's wasting $2000 for an iMac when she can get the same performance worth of a $1000 PC?

Good job.

This. And she could just turn the PC into a Hackintosh if she really wanted to.
