Author Topic: The best explanation of how to improve Minecraft I've ever read  (Read 1386 times)

The community.

OH GOD THE COMMUNITY.

One might also assume that a self proclaimed journalist would know what content is suited to the off-topic board ;)

Your words not mine, I always called it a blog. And either way, has nothing to do with using a forum. Maybe you should look into what blogging is if it confuses you so much.

Not sure how that has any relevance to megathreads.

Most minecraft items are pretty straight forward, an axe cuts trees, a shovel digs dirt, a hoe sows soil. I don't see how there is any fun in finding out what things do :u
EHERM
Redstone in general (you may need a wiki for complex stuff, but button > wire > noteblock is elementary)
Flint and Steel - I didn't even know what it was supposed to do, but maybe I didn't read about it in history class or whatever.
Dyes - Colored sheep!
Dispensers, Pistons, Noteblocks, etc. - Useful, fun projects to occupy your time.
Ender Pearls, Eyes of Ender - Pearls added easy transportation to specific spots, Eyes of Ender lead you to a new place
Potions - So many combinations of varying levels. It's nice to finally be able to instant heal, or swim in lava.
Did he mention villages? And how the villagers were just reskinned pigs with no drops on release? I was absolutely gobsmacked when minecraft was "released" and added almost nothing new except a god damn endgame scenario.
Nobody likes a smartass.
It looks like villagers are already becoming more useful, assuming they continue on the path they've made with trading. I'd like to see talking interaction, maybe quests.

please be serious

PLEASE be serious
but its late, and i lack the energy to type out a real response! i did read it, and everything the guy said was true and he makes MC sound playable!! very good very good

The sad thing about all those interesting things like pressure plates and redstone and such are more or less completely useless in survival.

Like, I could go out and make a trench network around one of the NPC villages protected by a minefield and with a dispenser fire control station to shoot arrows into the field at potential trespassers, but there would never be any point whatsoever to doing that.

I know, they should have been more like that on release though instead of being wandering handicaps.

Maybe they can work on the fact that I haven't touched Minecraft in months. The entire game is laid out in such a linear path that it feels more like following a recipe than playing a video game.

I stopped playing Minecraft solely because of the lack of weapons/concepts.

Terraria provided much more hours of fun for me with it's events, challenging bosses and humor.

Survival mode could be a lot better.

Save that wall of hell in a text file. The Minecraft mods are stuffty and will likely delete it.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind, it's been there a bit. Still, save it.

Bloggers are usually aware of how content is classified (every blogger has tagged content). The off-topic board is for off-topic content (try and keep up!). We have a megathread for minecraft in the games board (that's where game content is posted, tricky stuff).

Maybe you should look into how to post correctly if it confuses you so much - you could even write a story.. er .. I mean blog post about it to clear up the confusion for the other slow learners :)

you're sounding like you're being sarcastic though, so sorry if I hurt your feelings, sweetie dear

The sad thing about all those interesting things like pressure plates and redstone and such are more or less completely useless in survival. Multiplayer. Even in single player, they're adding the ability to join worlds near you, but yeah, it is a problem that most redstone stuff is multiplayer centered. Nobody makes mob-grinders with dispensers, it's resource intensive; dispensers are an example of multiplayer oriented items.

Also Insurrection is hilarious as forget.

We don't know what their plans are.

Honestly I have to agree with everything the man said.

Minecraft is pretty stuffty as is, and if minecraft was like that, I would be playing it a LOT more. If that all was added now though, I would definitely become addicted to it again.

i see how it could be seen as sarcastic, sorry aboot that huney :{}
but yeah

this, too

heck, sometimes I feel like MC is too easy and boring

monsters are ultimately bleh and feel like they're an annoyance rather than an actual enemy

Why the would I be wanting to play multiplayer with anybody but my friends though? The community is full of undesirables to the point where I would never want to join a public server.
