Author Topic: Wal-mart is one evil corporation.  (Read 3219 times)

So there has been a regular Wal-mart and a Big Y (it's a big grocery store) next to each other in harmony for years. Then Wal-mart out of nowhere decides to shut down that \wal-mart and put in a super center (wal-mart with a grocery department) ACROSS the loving street.

I wonder how anyone can get away with such a thing and why people support these kinds of businesses.

Oh man this guy right here

It's probably one of those crazy schemes to make money! Of course, since you don't have a job you wouldn't know what that's like.

The mayor of New York City refuses to let Wal-Mart build any stores in the area because they suck the life out of local businesses.

Working at a restaurant is like trying to intentionally put a local store out of buisness thus killing a few hundred jobs?

This is why the economy is stuff.

i love walmart, its like everything you could ever need in one building filled with greasy fat people and the scent of plastic

There isn't even enough room for one, let alone as big a store as they'd want to create for a city like NYC. I could never imagine one being in NYC, anyway.

For once, Tord Lony has a point. Wal-Mart is terrible for local economies.

Hey man, I'm not defending walmart, I'm just answering your question:

Businesses aren't supposed to live in harmony. While walmart has some pretty terrible business practices, this sort of thing was inevitable.

see above

The only solution.

Ive lived by a super walmart for some time now, it hasnt killed any buisnesses around here

This.
It kills every local business.
But it IS business and that's about making money and Walmart has got that down.

Because by then it was too late. Granny's Panties and Lingerie Emporium closed not long after it opened, and not you'll never be able to browse their wide assortment of hand-knitted stockings and ball gags.

Starbucks tried to do the same thing and they even put starbucks restaurants across from each other.

once walmart puts burger kings and pizza huts in them, they are like an entire town themselves
loving wonderful
