And I'm worried I'll be like this for hours(?).

What the hell do they give you when they remove a wisdom teeth?

They put you to sleep, don't worry.

The pain will come hours later.

Gotta get mine removed in september.

They will pump you full of nitrous oxide until you're completely whacked and can't feel anything, and then sometimes they will put a UV in you and put you to sleep depending on circumstances.

The pain comes a day or two after the surgery actually.

mine are already pretty much grown in already, i'm lucky they didn't get messed up upon entering, now i don't have to worry about that.

They don't necessarily put you to sleep. Sometimes they will but my dentist just numbed me up and pulled them when I was awake. It was loving TERRIFYING because I'm afraid of needles and these god damned things are bigger than your hand and they go so far into your gums it's not even ok.

And they can only pump you full of so many gum numbing drugs and if you still feel things WHELP THAT SUCKS ENJOY FEELING YOUR TEETH BEING RIPPED OUT! My bottom right tooth was compacted and I could feel the root being torn out of my mouth.

EDIT: On second thought they most likely don't put you to sleep because that stuff is dangerous and for such a non-invasive surgery they wouldn't take the risk.

Mine have always been under the gums and they stopped irritating me long ago. They never showed themselves.

ARE THEY THE ONES THAT WEAR THE BIG HATS

I have four wisdom teeth, all but one have erupted, all have come in straight as an arrow, and none have to be removed.

Yay for big mouths. <3

They don't always put you to sleep because generally NO2 is enough to whack you up such that you can't feel anything. They don't need overly strong anesthetics to do oral surgery, unlike more standard surgery where they are really cutting you up and getting at deeper nerve endings that would never actually sense pain (and as such when they do you REALLY loving feel it)
That said if you can still feel them ripping at your gums after you're sufficiently doped up on laughing gas they will probably put you to sleep via the IV

four? what the hell? i guess you really do have a big mouth

wink wink

Prepare to bleed profusely for about 24 hours after the surgery.

You mean save up for Halloween, Mary?

Your mouth will defiantly be numb for a good 8-16 hours.

I got 6 teeth removed about 8 months ago, when I came back my mouth was so numb that I couldn't consume anything.

that sure is a wise decision you're making :cookieMonster:

Tooth gone. They gave me local anesthesia so I feel fine. Half of my face is numb so that kinda sucks and I'm spitting blood. I didn't feel any pain when they took it off but it felt weird as stuff. Like extremely uber weird. I hope I never have to get another tooth removed.
