Author Topic: Off Topic's Spam and Forum-Games  (Read 5137 times)

imo forum games like that "can we count to 10", "combine the above users name with your own" or other things should just be bannable.

how exactly are they fun? those topics collect nothing but junk and spam.

only thing is is that those sorts of topics actually keep off topic going
without the usual bullstuff the category would be as untouched as aot

npo, there was a time when we had 3rd of the users on the forum, and every topic in off topic was active and not a forum game.
it can happen again if you idiots quit bumping the games every 6 seconds.

i dont see anyone having fun. whats the point of these topics? you wake up in the morning to see 6 new pages on a game topic and you reply a new post in it.
you dont read the last 6 pages of stuff you missed, you just want to help the spam and up your post count.
its very pointless. a post should contain content and discussion.
i think you all just like to see your name on the forum or something.

Has it been requested that we turn community projects into forum games / content topics?

some guys here suggested that. but theres the concern that the community projects is to good for this spam lol.
that section would then be littered with crap and the real projects would be bumped off the page.

Real projects could be moved to Off Topic. Community projects is mostly forum games anyway.

Isn't this what community projects is for?

uh, yeah. he didn't cover it up. meaning it's not spam.

i fully support this though, been browsing offtopic for awhile and the games are getting ridiculous.
I completely support the idea as well, but I wouldn't call that spam.

The problem I see is users actually posting them in there. We have problems (if you would call it that) with users posting topics that are more suited to Games/other sections on a regular basis (probably not so much daily but weekly), these topics are rarely locked/moved voluntarily or through moderators (which could just be no one cares enough to report them or whatever).

It seems most will post everything in Off Topic because it is the most popular board and garners the most attention (this has actual been said before in various topics, that although it's the wrong section that board has more users). Even if it was a child board to Off Topic, I get the feeling most would just ignore it  unless the moderators heavily enforced this new board ruling.

I like the idea, but I'm not entirely sure it would actually work out. Though you can easily remove a board as fast as you can create it, I would assume. Perhaps a trial run for a month or two?

I agree! Its horrible having to go to page 4+ to find real topics because 1-4 are all forum games.

thats handicapped and defeats the purpose. it isn't hard to add a section to the forums. it's not like badspot is limited to the current sections only.

Then what would be the point of having Community Projects?
