I propose a test using the following:

Green Gem, Orange Medalion, The Futuristic Fuel Cells, the Strange Device, and the Star meta material.

That dust storm must gather a lot of static electricity.  Perhaps there's a way to harness that energy to help power the portal?  Maybe we should borrow a technique from Benjamin Franklin and fly a conductive kite into the storm.  Further, since the storm is eternal and powered by spirits we might even get a consistent voltage off of it!  Or at least a pulsed one.

However, we may need some kind of switch to power specific plugs.  Six plugs means 2^6 possible ON/OFF configurations of plugs which I'm going to assume means that once we get the necessary voltage source we can dial up a destination using a binary address.

Then all we'd need is enough power to power the portal.  We should probably try one of those fuel cells before we go making a kite and turning the dust storm into a spirit powered battery, as awesome as that sounds.  Who knows?  The electricity could end up cursed!

Mark Twain has been flipping through his notes in search of anything that could help with the gate problem. So far he hasn't found anything about this type of gate, but hes only half way through his notes so there might be something in there.
