Author Topic: The OUYA, a new kind of console.  (Read 8212 times)

I dont think its going to catch on, xbox and ps3 players like me are already lockdd in eith their game console of choice. Since its running on Android, would the Minecraft only get updates from anroid? Or will it be able to run the PC version?

I noticed in the specs that there was no GPU listed...
Id say its going to be hard for them to get money off this, they are going to need a couple of thigs when releasing:

1. Good games (they already have MC)
2. Very strong multiplayer servers (like ps3 and xbox have)
3. Mic support
4. Good graphics

(Look at the WiiU, good graphics now but the games suck and so does the multiplayer making gamers not want to buy it)

Id say when OUYA has a good chance of selling is around when the 720 comes out, people will be ready to go throw out or stop playing a 360, then they might notice the OUYA and decide which to get.

You can have more than one console.

The MC would probably be developed separately

NVidia Tegra 3

1. Good games (they already have MC)
True.

2. Very strong multiplayer servers (like ps3 and xbox have)
This is the responsibility of the game, not the console.

3. Mic support
Eh, why?

4. Good graphics
If it works nicely otherwise then I don't think this is a major problem.

I've never had any problems with multiplayer on my Wii.

$99? It sounds like a total piece of stuff. I'm sticking with my T:A capable tank.

I know you can have more than one console but your just going to waste money buying games for both consoles, unless your rich.

Number 2, you need servers to run multiplayer, meaning a computer.
Number 3, how else will you communicate with your friends?
Number 5, The Wii has barely any good games that use the multiplayer, last time I remember it was just Black ops and Mario Kart?

You don't buy the same game for both consoles.

Err, as I said, it's still the game's problem, not the console's.

Number 3, how else will you communicate with your friends?
Consoles are usually used for local multiplayer. But sure, if you need it you could just plug one in and run an application for it.

I've never had any problems with it on the ones that had it though.

Seemed like any ol' console to me until she said "its open to hackers that want to tweak the box and make it their own"

if she's talking internally, like modifying the files of the games downloaded...

I think that's gotta be one of the most amazing additions I have ever heard

Master Race of PS3/360/Everything games on this console, anyone? Ooooooh yeaaaaah!

To me, it looks like a big Android with a focus of console demos and open source for everything.

It looked great until I saw that it was Android based.

If it wasn't basically a mobile console, it would've been better to use Linux.

Android is Linux-based.

where the hell did so called casuals get 4.4 million dollars..?

you know, hardware aside (which is gonna be balls), i feel like there's probably going to be virtually no games worth playing on this thing

Obviously the game needs to have the feature but you need servers it wont work at all. Jesus Christ.

I just said that.

who the hell does PRIMARILY local multiplayer..? the only game with that kinda value is mario party.
