It has muuuch more suffering than just being killed does.  Once your killed (well I'm not going to get into religion) but, well, we don't know what happens.  But it probably beats sitting in a dark room for year after year after year, until you finally go crazy.  It would probably be better for the criminal with the death penalty, rather than sitting in one place their whole life

If you did something that would win you a place on death row then you fully deserve to die. Keeping them alive with a life sentence does nothing but drain money and take a spot in our prisons, which are crowded as it is.

Again, the death penalty costs more.

Besides, the prisons aren't full because of murderers, they're full from non-violent drug offenders. If the private prisons didn't profit so much off of the large inmate population, drug offenses would be met with rehabilitation instead of incarceration. Then the prisons would have room for the people that actually deserve it.

And if you ask me, the death penalty isn't a punishment. Rotting in prison until you die of old age is.

It's a release. The convict is just being absolved of all worries of life. There's probably a good portion of 'life without parole' inmates that would rather have been given death.

well yea. there's also probably people who kill themselves every day! ofc they're still all criminals even if they want to die.

It's not murder, it's execution. Murder is unlawful (if you live in a civilized world, at least) and execution is punishment. People don't want to die, so what better way to punish someone for murder? What normal person kills another in cold blood? Why would we want someone like that to walk our streets again?

Also, killing in self defense is not murder and doesn't call for execution. I know someone is going to sarcastically use that eventually.
