Author Topic: Idea: Textures in a can for V21  (Read 806 times)

So this idea sparked in my mind after seeing some videos of the Shaders and Shadows, and seeing that the bricks will now look like lego bricks.  This made me sad because i like how the bricks look right now.  So this is my idea.

Basically, it would be textures in a spray can, like paint, you could have grass, concrete, regular (brick), glass,...others like this in one column, then in another would be the contrast that the brick would have, kind of like the grayscale, except it would be the difference between the lightest point in the texture, to the darkest point.

I'm not talking about making a print like texture on it, i'm talking about how the light gets reflected off of the bricks.  This way, we could make lots of different builds that look different in places, to simulate real world landscape, better than a normal, print-like texture would.

A new idea i just thought of would be adding noises, like minecraft, to the bricks, depending on texture.

Discuss.

what

no they won't

what

no they won't

Not the top texture, i mean the way the light reflects off.  It makes the bricks look like plastic.

um

okay then

Don't we use print gun for this?

This might have potential if Badspot adds support for normal maps and maybe even specular maps. If used correctly it might work but I'm very sceptical.

this is not roblox.
roblox did not invent changing textures

this is not roblox.
He's not talking about colored textures from what I understand.

This is normal and specular mapping.

Uhm.....

i dont know ._.      what

I made a pointless video on how normal maps look and how they compare to the current system in Blockland and a real 3D model.

If I remember right, roblox has a spray can to change the sticking ability of the brick to other bricks.
