Author Topic: City of Boston now requesting Chick-Fil-A to back out of development in city  (Read 2245 times)

It always amazed me how Blockland got news so much faster than those I know IRL. Then I discovered Reddit and it amazes me how delayed you guys are on news. That means it must take like weeks for news to reach people IRL :o

Back in the old days when we still had only postal mail, wars would continue for a week or so after the peace treaty cause the news didn't reach all the soldiers.

It doesn't even reach them after going through the lamestream media filters.

funny part is
their ceo is pro-gay marriage

their ceo is pro-gay marriage
oh wow haha

funny part is
their ceo is pro-gay marriage
wrong. their stance is the exact opposite.

I see nothing wrong with the restaurant
this.

that letter is more and more proof of how anti-religious america is becoming. im disghusted the city would do something like that. chick fil-a has the right to choose what kiddie toys they sell, their CEO has said himself that they treat all their customers equally, regardless of their loveual orientation.

Are you really that stupid? I'm sorry impeding on the rights of others wasn't respected.

Yes, they have to go out of their way to tell the very people for whom they do not support marriage that they may still eat in that establishment.

they treat all their customers equally. their personal viewpoints don't impede on anyone's rights, and they aren't stopping anyone from being gay.

they have their own right to a personal viewpoint. it does not make them discriminatory to anyone.

>Impeding on the rights of others

In what way?

They blew this thing way out of proportion. Just because the president is against same love marriage, doesn't mean the whole company is.

Oh look, he's infringing on their freedom to enfranchise because they have a viewpoint

Plus it's implied http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/media-invents-story-chik-fil-head-condemned-gay-marriage_648913.html?page=1
It's pretty ironic how he's denying their freedom to set up shop while it's preaching his sermon on freedom.

Not that I'm on Chick-Fil-A's side, I don't care if you want to be gay or not.

Everyone above is an idiot.

The letter itself says that the city of Boston urges you to not develop in the city because their views oppose the views of the citizens of Boston. The operative term here is urge (in case the emboldened text wasn't indication enough), and the major isn't infringing on their rights to enfranchise. The entire letter is a suggestion, not a command.

The definition of urge is (in this context):
"to endeavor to induce or persuade, as by entreaties; entreat or exhort earnestly".

There's no other clearer way to say it. If any of you think the major is, "Breaking the law" by sending this letter, you are an idiot.

They blew this thing way out of proportion. Just because the president is against same love marriage, doesn't mean the whole company is.
Actually no, Chick-Fil-A donated two million dollars last year to anti-gay organizations, so I'm pretty sure the whole company is anti-gay.

I said their ceo
you said their as if you meant the entire establishment
I was talking about the views of one employee
not the overall business

Because everyone in the company delegates the money

I may have overlooked a word, I will admit that

Here we go with this "war on Christianity" bullstuff. If anything, this country is becoming more anti-secular.
