“Now, our aim with this game/mod is to really frighten players, and give them that experience we will want & crave for when we play a horror game, or even watch a horror film. That feeling of being scared. With Slender: Source, players will be able to play with up to three of their friends and traverse a variety of environments trying to uncover who/what the Slenderman really is, all while collecting strange little dolls that resemble children; which the player can try figuring out the purpose of these dolls. Were they victims of the Slenderman, or are they just normal, creepy, dolls? That decision comes up the player’s imagination. So, yes that’s right. We’re making a multiplayer version of the Slenderman story, and we’ve gotten inspiration by the game “Slender” which was a Unity project developed by Parsec Productions in which you must avoid looking at the Slenderman to go insane. It’s a wonderful, and terrifying experience which everyone should check out, which you can find right here as well as some gameplay of the said game, to hopefully interest you in what WE plan on doing with the legend, and the creature.”

The modders plan to start with two maps, to take 30 minutes each, but they hope to build eight maps in all.

but with two maps being shipped out when we release the beta. This number may be subject to change dependent on work schedules, but no fears. You'll get at-least two maps when the beta hits, and hopefully a new map each month. We may even go higher than the planned 8 but that's all up to how well the mod is received by the people once it's released.

TL;DR It's Slender but with multiplayer

A little update on what's currently being worked on for the initial release that you guys can expect.
---
•Two maps. SS_Forest and SS_Hospital
•Players spawn with no weapons; and they can be killed in one shot if the Slenderman hits them.
•Numerous spots around the maps where the Slenderman can appear. This can include behind doors, in buildings, and sometimes even behind you.
•He'll grow more tentacles/appendages when he kills players.
•4 player models that the players will play as. To suit the "teenager" feel, they will be based of off social groups. This will include the "Emo", "Nerd", "Jock" and "Snob"
•Players will breathe awkwardly when the Slenderman is close.
•To have at-least one doll model completed & in-game.
•You can voice-chat with people in your vicinity. If someone is too far away you cannot hear them (hopefully we can get this working)
•Work on a "screen-blur" system so when the Slenderman gets too close, the player screens may get a bit blurry and reduce vision.
•Hoping to have the maps even have some risks; such as traps, etc.
•A series of unique voice-commands for people that don't have mics; and don't want to type out things like 'Behind you!'
•And more!

I’m glad you asked about flashlights specifically. Each map will spawn with only one flashlight near a player, meaning not everyone will have a flashlight, and only one person will. However, it can run out of batteries but we’re gonna be nice and place batteries in locations around each of the maps. We feel this will not only add to the isolation, and hopelessness but really tell people “you gotta work together if you want to live.”

PICS

I actually would play this, same with any other scary game with multiplayer.

Discuss.

Yeah, only read that first article. Read the second one and now I know what you mean.

Singleplayer makes it more of a thriller IMO :c
But still, this is a neat idea.

Normal game that this is based off

woah, thats the actual slender game, hm, the last game play of that game I watched on youtube was way outdated

it'd be awesome if they had a separate mode where you could play as slenderman

Multiplayer can't be scary.

Multiplayer can't be scary.
no it's still scary

unless you turn off all sound then it's STILL scary

no it's still scary

unless you turn off all sound then it's STILL scary
what
that sentence seemed to have came out wrong

Multiplayer can't be scary.
All sense of urgency is lost when a 10 year old from Ohio is talking about their recent loveual escapades with my mom

Original game is fun though

Multiplayer can't be scary.
Agreed
The whole point of this game is to get the feeling of being alone in a dense forest with a paranormal creature stalking you. You're supposed to feel scared because you have nobody to protect you. With another player you feel safer and therefore, makes the game less scary

That's how it may sound on paper, but have you actually played a multiplayer horror game (that was actually scary)?
Chances are, there may be parts in the game where players have to split up, or maybe they will start in different locations. Nonetheless, a multiplayer horror game can still be just as scary as singleplayer.
