dayz should have npcs that can sell you stuff for food. that's how i imagine it would be in real life, people don't just attack others because they fear injury or death.

if they get wounded they flip stuff and begin screaming, attracting zombies, other players, and bears.

maybe they could be behind bulletproof glass or have some sort of defence where they shoot your legs or open a room full of zombies
since everyone would try to kill the NPCs anyways they should at least have some protection
