It's OP, Oasis, has been a thread veteran since Shinji's Earth 2.0 as I and a few others have. Oasis and I both agreed that he should make a new, more detailed thread following the original storyline which is much better. The thread is also more detailed in terms or surrounding star systems / the planet.

1)  It cannot selectively reflect or refract light.  Either it does to all light, or it doesn't at all.  The only way tat can be done is if the laser penetrates a layer, revealing a shiny, reflective layer underneath, and this reflects the light.
