So pissed. I managed to get probably my best Sniper kill ever and the server had recording off. I was playing Turbine, a spy came out of their vents, looked out the glass, saw me, cloaked without moving and I guessed exactly where he would be and when he'd come out and headshotted him. I couldn't stop laughing at how BS that must have been for him.

One of the things that upsets me most about Pyro is that when they were deciding what negative attribute to put on the Degreaser they picked one that has absolutely no consequence to the type of person who uses it

They're going to be airblasting you against a wall before killing you with something else, not burning you to death, who cares about afterburn damage? If they want a real downside they should've raised airblast cost (maybe even for players only, so it doesn't affect projectile reflects?) so you have to be careful choosing when to knock someone into the air and you can't just spam it as easily

It's like the +150% airblast cost on the Backburner.
or the Phlog not having airblast.

No one was gonna use it anyways, lol.

I always use the airblast. I reflect rockets and i defend my team agaisnt an ubered pair. I cant stand the backburner or the phlog because i use the airblast so much.

Also, increasing the cost of airblast on the degreaser would just be stupid, being that its the only other flamethrower other than stock that is viable for airblasting.

I agree, that's definitely the wrong way to deal with the Degreaser. If it is to be changed, at the very most I think the decreased damage should be removed and perhaps less burn time added on and a slight decrease in weapon switch (enough to prevent instantly putting a flare into someone after airblasting them but not enough for it to not be a viable option in certain circumstances.) I think the weapon switch needs to be changed because the Scout (what was supposed to be and originally was a counter for Pyro) shouldn't die in less than a second from encountering them.

Something to make it a tad more viable as a flamethrower vs just a pivot between weapons.

Edit: Something like this would be the result:

45% faster weapon switch
-25% burn damage penalty
-50% burn damage length

Which sounds a lot more fair considering it allows you to use it like a Flamethrower for certain classes and then may allow you to switch it up to deal with classes with more hp.

Stopped playing the game for 2 years only to come back to find out that most of the 32 player servers are dead. The player base hasn't changed at all, people are still using support and defense classes as offensive classes. I'm talking to you 5 engineers, and those 4 snipers who are trying to get a headshot from 5 inches away.

Pyro has always been the hard to balance. You use to be able to deal with w+m1 pyros by just shooting rockets at them as a soldier, now valve made air blasting easier.

You have to fire a rocket at an angle where it will do splash damage, be hard to deflect, and slow them down. Once that has been achieved use a shotgun to finish them. Use rockets on pyros from behind.

They should make the phlog's airblast delete projectiles like the SC and absorb afterburn but only halt enemies.
then remove the 10% damage penalty and make the taunt grant minicrits, 100 health, and a speed boost.

also make the SVF increase afterburn duration already.

They should make the phlog's airblast delete projectiles like the SC

Interesting idea here based off of what you said. A flamethrower that is very meh damage wise, but allows you to suck up a projectile (at 25 ammo per projectile and 5 ammo per "tick") and when you right click again said projectile comes back out of the Flamethower for 25 more ammo. The catch is it counts as regular damage instead of a mini crit and does not retain crits when they are sucked up but can still deal them in cases like a headshot with a huntsman arrow or a flare on a burning enemy.

It'd be interesting sucking up a rocket, and shotgunning a Soldier to death and use the rocket to say bring down a Sentry or get you out of a tough spot. It would have some sort of indicator that the Pyro is holding something however when the Flamethrower is out, so it's not some huge surprise when it happens, this also wouldn't work with sticky bombs of any sort. (Also imagine sucking up a sandman ball or an arrow!)

Edit: Thinking about it however, something like this should come with some sort of slight passive health/damage or speed penalty to remain fair.

I need a misc to go with my festive engineer loadout.

Anything that looks fitting for winter. I was thinking either the Dogfighter or the Endothermic Exowear.
It's replacing the Macho Mann by the way

that choke point on catcus canyon is hell, all you need is a sentry and a stickylauncher to hold it
