Guess who has two thumbs and made a lazy 10 second replay

THIS GUY

imo SoaS was weaker than BM in terms of drama. SoaS had a 3 minute build up to one sad event meanwhile in BM it's pretty damn easy to understand what is happening right from the first 6 seconds. prior to the sad moment in the former were comedic moments. BM begins and ends in an interesting way that would take some thought to understand and is also more fit for the drama category.

the buildup in soas is superb

in the short time you know the sentry you see how much the engineer truly loves it, it's like a son to him, then the second his engineer sense goes off you just sit there denying the inevitable until that heartbreaking moment when you watch him dash into the room only to see his creation slipping away before his eyes, then crumbling into pieces

and then we've got medic whose bird died and he shoots up some glowing red jarate before fighting some kind of birdman version of himself and just non-chalantly chops off his head

I teared up during story of a sentry, felt the engineer's pain for his lost friend and felt so happy to see them reunited (whether in death or dream it doesn't matter), but bad medicine didn't make me feel anything except "what the forget am I watching"

the bird was already dead so I didn't really have a reason to care about what he was fighting for

you seem to have not understood bad medicine you should look it over again

then please, explain it to me

both soas and bm have the theme of losing a loved one, both are simply conveyed differently. they both also use an object to symbolize that loved one, the sentry in soas and archimedes in bm. in bm, the first few seconds show that archimedes is dead and medic really didn't want to face up to that; so far in fact that he injects a drug into himself, showing that he is in complete denial of his bird's death. archimedes in a way "comes back" to the medic, the two once again reunited. now think about this; doctors are people who battle death. a figure which serves as the symbolism for death (or medic wearing a blighted beak) takes the bird away from him, which shows that death takes away those unfortunate enough to meet its grasp for good. medic, living up to his job's namesake, literally battles death with the help of his bird's spirit. after killing death, he finally goes into the acceptance that his friend is gone for good.

edit: additional brown townysis of the themes of soas and bm
as i said before, both have similar themes with different ways of showing them.

soas is more of a happy ending after losing the sentry engie was so close to; reuniting with it in the afterlife.

bm is bittersweet, medic finally man(n)s up and lives with the fact that archimedes won't be coming back.

but there's no reason for me to care about what's going on in bad medicine

I care about the sentry and the engineer because I see them having fun together and how much they love each other for the first half of the video, so when the time comes it's heart-breaking as the engineer races to save his little friend, shivering and confused, only to watch it fall apart before his eyes

sure, the medic is obviously distraught in the opening of bad medicine, but it doesn't give me a reason to care about his actions; I never saw how the bird made him feel and I don't feel any emotional connection to him (or the bird I guess) so it just feels empty

I guess everyone's different, but that's how I see it

I've unboxed a second Strange SMG. Anyone got a Strange Quick-Fix or Big Earner?

why does the s. homewrecker track kills? killing is the last thing you should be doing with it

I guess it's just to give people another reason to buy keys and get sappers/buildings destroyed strange parts

also, apparently people are noticing a rise in hat finds lately, just a head's up in case it's not a coincidence, I found one earlier so I'm somewhat convinced

I liked SoaS a lot more because it's actually a feeling I have felt many times before

running too far away from your buildings to spycheck, only to find out the Spy was near you all along, waiting to forget your stuff up

but holy stuff, Bad Medicine. It may not have made much sense, but god DAMN it was well made.

why does the s. homewrecker track kills?

Because Strange weapons track kills by default?

Because Strange weapons track kills by default?

yes, and there are many exceptions, the homewrecker could just as well be one of them

I'm somewhat satisfied with the results

The replay category must have gotten some bad submissions to get the nominees it got, so it must have been difficult for Valve to choose four videos, Monster Kill was too drawn out, i understand the person wanted to show him laying out the stickies, but after that, it was just boring until the part where the detonates them, but even then it wasn't exactly a 'wow' or anything, Slow Realization didn't really have any effect on me, Tele-Camping Gone Wrong was neat, but i kind of liked the high five one mostly because of the timing of when the Sniper's hand was slapped and when he was killed, i expected it to be one of those 'I'm gonna Self Delete right as the high five lands' thing, not "EPIC" but still amusing

I would have liked Practical Problems to win Comedy as it's like a Spy vs Spy thing and all that, but i don't mind MaxOfS2D winning, the voice for the Medic could have been better, the Soldier was okay, but Raikujo still does an alright job at portraying the Scout, the music was pretty good, i liked the effects and the rainbow sparkles on the Heavy were nice, i saw the 'chick' joke coming from a mile away after the Scout told Heavy his wish, but that didn't stop it from being funny

For the Drama category, Electric Creeps was okay, but not really Saxxy worthy, i mostly liked it's use of Half Life 2's sound and music, i don't recall much of Story of a Sentry, it was pretty good from what i do remember, Till Death Do Us Part was great, but i mostly like how it kind of tied in with the creator's parody of the ZombiU trailer, i'm not really sure, but something about Bad Medicine made it feel like it was more dramatic and sad, perhaps it's the use of the effects, lighting and the music that made it seem that way

Meet the Dumpster Diver was pretty good and deserved the spotlight, but i feel that i must nitpick at repeating 'A Little Heart to Heart' in the beginning only to have it cut off after the Soldier digs in the trash can, i think that would have been better off being silent if anything

Badwater Bebop was pretty neat, but i felt like it was lacking something, i don't recall The Chase, so i can't say much about that, Electric Boogaloo was alright, but i'm not exactly crazy over the designs for the robot, it looks good, but it just doesn't look like it should be able to stay upright and the way the pilots are positioned in the roosterpit just looks uncomfortable

i saw the 'chick' joke coming from a mile away after the Scout told Heavy his wish, but that didn't stop it from being funny

it was very johnny bravo

I can't remember, was there ever an episode where Johnny got a girl to like him? I only remember that episode where his date turned out to be a wolf
