What do you mean by technical present? Do you mean 2013?

The technical present in TF2 is maps like control point, king of the hill, payload, etc, the MvM thing happened at a later date according to the backstory, i'm not entirely sure when the mercs sent Poopy Joe into space (SPOILER), but that might be around the same year as what i shall continue to call the 'technical' present
