And it doesn't translate at all over text unless it's obvious or you know the person well.

backpack.tf is a loving joke. The admins are actively destroying the economy. Long read, but it should do well to get the point across.

Can Valve not step in to fix the key price? They hired an economist for this...right?

I think the only way Valve can fix this is by making their own price site that's more reliable than others (which they can technically do since they can keep logs of trades).

technically they are in the right
nobody is buying new keys due to the market and that forces key prices to go up
people are voting the key prices down not because it's logical but because it's what they want
it sucks, but it's the truth :(

they don't want to fix it - they're selling more keys in the market than they ever have since nobody wants to buy 'em with metal and such

Backpack.tf is supposed to have prices based on community voting. That's what drew people to it in the first place. If it's what the community is voting for, then it should be accepted regardless of whether it's "logical" or not.

No, they're forcing the keys to drastically rise in price by influencing future prices. They keep rising the price, then people use the risen price as a guide to price their keys on tf2outpost. The higher trades on tf2outpost are then used as proof to raise the price even further, and the cycle continues.

People do not want the prices to rise this drastically, and it shouldn't. That album has screenshots of heavily downvoted price rise suggestions that were accepted anyway.

Look at the massive spike in key prices coinciding with the growth of backpack.tf.

I think they'd make more money from people buying more keys than making like 10c off of people selling ones they have.

Also after reading this and seeing how they were going to ban Long from making key suggestions, I went on backpack.tf and saw this.

Yeah that's where I found the album.

Downvoted. Long needs to quit his act and go get a life.

Nobody wants real economies to inflate either, it doesn't stop them.

They make a lot more this way as so many people were buying with pay-pal anyway - at least this way they actually make some money.

I agree the votes shouldn't be taken down, but they shouldn't be accepted. You'd just have a shortage of people willing to sell keys for such low prices, and then eventually it'd be extremely hard to get keys without purchasing them. Even if the prices were accepted, another site that wasn't accepting illogical prices would just become popular and outdo them just like what happened with spreadsheet.

I'm not gonna argue about this anymore though, I'm extremely tired and it's silly for me and you guys to argue over virtual items and such. :D

The problem is the prices are being inflated artificially.
