More than likely. Most huge updates in the past have been. If we see what's happened in the past it'll just be an teaser announcement of what's to come: day one, then day two, perhaps 3, and then the update actually comes out on Friday/Saturday

And the item server is up and down for hours leaving everyone with even more anticipation to play with the items but not being able to.

Edit: Forgot to add the one or 2 people on the server playing that still somehow have a perfect connection to the item server and are using the new weapons when no one else can even see their backpack.
