First of all, you should save every 20 minutes or so.
Second, you could consider downloading the Backup Saves Add-On in case you save things over other things.

... ... ...
that doesnt help
because saving
is what makes you lose the save!
so even if i saved 8 times i still woulda lost it this way
^
At least SOMEONE is trying to help :I

The save-saver has been known to cause these kinds of crashes.

That's your fault. Why did you start building something big before the problem was solved? You knew you could crash if you tried saving.

As pecon98 said, the save-saver has been known to cause crashes. Delete it and post feedback.

like 95% of the time nothing goes wrong when i save, but once it does go wrong, the corrupt save overwrites the old one and i lose it all. i dont know what i did to cause it.
Dude it rarely happens, its unpredictable.

You said you had a traced console log right?

Upload it to any file hosting site, such as dropbox, mediafire, or filesmelt. We'll be able to easily track down what add-on is causing the issue.

This happens to me alot too. What I recommend is keep two files of each save and run alternating saves. Each time you want to save, just save onto whichever copy of the save was the older one.

I do do this on a number of my builds
but i forgot to this time :C
