You'd remoce the little cilinder from the end so when placing it on a 1x1f round it looks like its sticked in

If you have a 2x2 round you can stick it in the axle hole. make a centered one as well as a non centered

....make one for:
skyward vertical, ground facing vertical, left/ right horizontal and a few of those for diagonal versions and you have a nice addon.
