Screw you guys, I almost beat Surface Tension on Hard.

Just got so frustrating I decided to give up and restart on Normal. Currently back at Office Complex.

You drop down through some hole and there are two Vortiguants right there who attack you. Then a Xen Grunt will teleport in, a ship will drop some marines off, then some garage door will open, two grunts come out, and the ship just keeps dropping off marines. It was worse than the lobby stand-off in Questionable Ethics.

What I did was just kill the two vorts with the tau cannon first off. Then I charged it and killed the alien grunt. As soon as the osprey is in view, shoot all your rockets at it to kill most of it's payload and void backup. Charge your tau cannon again and kill the next two alien grunts. Continue through the garage and as you walk down the ramp, charge your tau cannon, and blow up the alien grunt when it teleports in.

The revolver is the Vortigaunt's only natural predator, and the Hivehand eats up soldiers like a fat guy eats Cheetos.  So, take out the Vortigaunts with the revolver.  Then  just take a few shots at the Osprey with your rocket launcher, then hide around the corner and kill this HECU bastards with the Hivehand.  Works like a charm.  And charged TAU shots against grunts will cause it to rain gibs, so use that after you've dealt with everything else, take cover, charge that stuff, and then let 'er rip!

What difficulty are you on? It usually takes about ~24 hornets to kill an HECU marine for me.

Yeah, there was actually a point where I was hiding behind some concrete cover right next to the garage door. I had killed so many marines with it, and they had helped me kill the grunts. After a while I realized the Osprey was dropping off soldiers. I tried to make a run for it (like a yard or two) but I was taken down within seconds.

Just remember that Gordon is a scientist and you are going against soldiers with armor that makes them walking tanks.

I can imagine exactly what Gordon would look like with a ponytail. He looks like the kind of scientist that would have one.
