At this point Blockland runs on a heavily modified version of Torque. It's practically it's own engine. Porting it to something else won't help or fix anything useful.

Originally people wanted it ported to Torque3D so we could have shadows and shaders, and well stuff look at that. We have them and we're not even on Torque3D.
Imagine the possibilities.

Yeah but... Would shadows and shaders be more compatible if we were using Torque 3D?

There is a slim chance. But even then that's not going to help you and others run them better. The problem now isn't because there is no compatibility issues, it's that most of you guys are using outdated hardware that don't have the appropriate things needed for shaders in anything.

Imagine the possibilities.

Oh well thank-you, that changes everything.

Don't also forget to consider the performance and visual difference if using the Torque 3D system for shaders :3

Pretty sure T3D's shaders aren't meant for handling 200,000 objects.

Probably not, but the FPS example for Torque 3D certainly has lovey shadows.

Edit: Interiors are also DTS shapes, not DIF.

Too bad we would never need super-duper good shadows where everything in Blockland is practically a square or octagon. That's like asking for really good water physics, where we wouldn't even need them or ever use them.

True, but the shaders update was mainly released to add more realism to the game (correct me if I'm wrong) and shadows are not composed of a square grid in reality.

realism?

pff

i'm pretty sure shaders were added to make stuff pretty

"realism"
"Blockland"

Haha

Realism in a game where you play as a character with a cube for a head, and have disembodied hands and feet, bleed the word "ouch", and can spawn matter from absolutely nothing.
No pretty sure it's just to make that game look pretty.

(correct me if I'm wrong)
okay

the S&S update was released to make the game look better.

I'll go with make the game look better based on realism.

Imagine the possibilities.
anything you can do in T3D badspot can make blockland do better with some time and work (and money/motivation)
