I think the thing is, It only got in because of their community, or a second reason is, It could have got on steam without greenlight.

The problem is that YogVentures or whatever it is is seen as a bad game, that ONLY got in because of their community through VIDEOS. The community thinks its good because it's about YogsCast, not because they like the game specifically. Rather with Blockland, we have a community here because the actual GAME is good, not because Badspot makes random videos about things.

That's exactly my point.
The only reason anyone here is complaining about YogVentures being greenlit is because they already have a large following.
They've not done anything illegal or against the rules of Greenlight to earn those.

The only reason anyone would complain about them is due to jealousy.
We can't just say that games with big followings aren't allowed in to Greenlight. That's entirely unfair.
A big following doesn't guarantee the service/safety of using Steam to sell your games.
So it's perfectly fair for Indie games with big followings to apply.

And really, why wouldn't Steam accept them?
If the game already has a big following then putting it on Steam is going to make Steam a large sum of money.
The whole point of getting games to be voted in, and having games with the most votes accepted is because the more votes you have, the more potential buyers Steam will have.
I don't give two stuffs if they did anything legal/illegal or whatever, the point I am saying is that they already have a rather large fanbase (from their youtube and kickstarter capaign) that would ensure their game would be successful and then on top of that they want to enter it in greenlight to make even more money, I understand thats how money and jobs work or whatever but I am just annoyed at how basically everything always relies to power with numbers, if you have a lot of followers then you can do anything, in this case you can get whatever game you want greenlit.

Im just annoyed at how Blockland (which is the work of 2 or 3 people for almost 10 years) hasn't gotten greenlit and yet some two dudes who arent even developing the game (some other company is doing it for them) gets their game greenlit as a fast as you can snap your finger. Its stupid.

Exactly, also how the hell did "blockscape"get on? That game isn't near finished and its a total minecraft rip off, yet it somehow got a community in less than a second. Then people say blockland is a rip off of minecraft. I just don't get what's got into people these days.

because blockscape pretty much says "minecraft rip off" all over, it and steam comunity thinks we are trying to "hide" everything so its not minecraft.

Which its not even close

Apparently by the steam and minecraft community...the whole world actually, Minecraft created the block and all of its variants meaning ones that are tall or wider or shorter (these are called bricks you cigarettebabies) and if a game has these "blocks" they are A COPY OF DA MINECRAFT. Something I just noticed that brings out people's stupidity is that they picked calling us a clone of minecraft rather than A game/company such as....Lego.....Lego Universe, at least that way it would make sense (we couldn't have copied lego universe because we came out before) but its true that BL is sort of based upon Legos with its own differences.

Notch himself said Minecraft is a clone of Infiniminer...I think thats what the game is called.

egh ok that is true but that argument is a bit iffy

because the reason these 'clones' exist is because they're trying to feed off of the wave of success that minecraft-esque titles have had (which obviously was caused by minecraft)

infiniminer is fairly trivial because of this because minecraft, even if it is a clone of a game, is not a clone in that sense

it derived a good bit of its style from it, but it's not how it is purely to be similar enough to attract the same area of consumers

does any of that make sense

-high talk-
essentially he's trying to say that rather than take inspiration from minecraft and improve upon the product, as minecraft did with infiniminer, many games are just dumbing down the minecraft mechanics and slapping their own brand on it.

They should combine spore with minecraft. Random creators in a randomly generated world

They should combine spore with minecraft. Random creators in a randomly generated world
they should combine spore with an incinerator. it'd be better for everyone.

Combine minecraft with antichamber

Combine minecraft with antichamber
combine minecraft with antichamber/spore/portal/halflife2/blockland/tf2/everyothergameinexistance

yes that mainly

a- for reading comprehension some ideas were neglected

What is Minecraft's appeal anyway? How does a game that involves gaining minerals, crafting, and killing things get that much players when Blockland has more things you can do?
