Author Topic: Urban Exploration Megathread  (Read 10131 times)

my family owns a house next door that was abandoned for the longest time, i had fun exploring it. other than that there's not much in the way of abandoned buildings to explore around here.

i love this kinda stuff though, i wish i could do it more.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

There's a bunch of abandoned mineshafts about an hour from where i live. They're not even marked though, so if you're not paying attention you can fall to your death. Some are even radioactive. I'd like to see if it's possible to explore them sometime though.
If you choose to do this, be extremely careful. Mines are prone to collapse and as devildogelite mentioned, their is a huge possibility of poison gasses. Make sure you'd have plenty of lighting, rope, a gas meter wouldn't be a bad idea either. Also make sure somebody knows where you are and can call for help if needed.

I like how the pics posted on the first page have guys in sneakers and shorts when we're told to wear long pants and protective shoes.
The OP is comprised of suggestions for anyone doing Urbex. Sometimes in certain situations I don't follow everything by the book, especially during summer. It isn't recommended, but I'd rather teach others the right way to do things.

I wish there was a place that close to me. I normally have to drive a good distance to find places.

*I've updated the second post of the thread with the video of me exploring an abandoned house.*

me and my friends are planning on exploring an old building not so far away, but we're going to bring an airsoft gun, and a bat/stick/or something incase we encounter any trouble with homeless people.

... bringing an airsoft gun sounds dumb, but is it clever logically? by that i mean if this homeless guy is approaching you, the rest is pretty self-explanatory

Funny you should mention that. Me and my group went to explore this place a few months ago. The area was heavily overgrown and a good amount into the forest. It consisted of 7 buildings and was a good walk in between both. We were going at night so it was going to be extremely dark and had a huge possibility of us encountering people who could do us harm.

I actually ended up taking my airsoft gun as a form of protection. But while it offers protection, it could also have some downfalls. People who otherwise wouldn't bother you may see the gun and perceive you as a threat, they may attempt to defend themselves. Also, if you are caught by police or they see you walking towards the building with the gun, it could be very difficult to explain your way out of that.

theres this one abandoned train tunnel somewhere where I live, but I heard that theres a Satanic camp there... should I go?

i don't believe in satan or god.

I live in a town and there is just a book released about this stuff.
Look it up, REVISITING JACKSONVILLE by Ennis Davis.

I've almost been into a vacant lot before

I would actually avoid it then if you know for sure theres a camp there. Its possible their are alot of them and they may turn out to be hostile  or crazy. I wouldn't go exploring there if you know about a daner such as that.

Have you ever seen them around there?

I was a satanist before, stopped when I realized how creepy it was

I'm in Seattle area, and I've been talking with another dude and we're looking into going out to the eastside to explore an abandoned house.

He scouted it out, and there's a rather new barbed wire fence around the house, but he checked the meter readings in increments to see if there was any power usage and it's still abandoned...any ideas or suggestions?

Also nearby this house is some train tracks that go across a little valley where a road comes up and through into downtown Bellevue. No trains run on it anymore, but the track makes a pretty high up bridge, so we might scout that too.

This is probably one of my favorite threads now.

aha, that's really clever
