Author Topic: Valve should build an Operating System.  (Read 1521 times)

When you think about it, Gabe's pissed at Windows for turning itself into stuff, and he wants to move Steam to Linux to save PC gamers in a way.

He DOES, however, have a stuffload of experience making an operating system. He was basically the lead behind developing the first 3 releases of Windows.

What would the PC industry be like if Valve released a PC-gaming friendly Operating System for Intel-based systems? Discuss!

A steam laptop would be nice.

All it does is run steam games and maybe an internet browser.

It could also encourage people to buy games on steam instead of pirating them. (Because of course, a laptop that can run steam games max stats)

steam browser?
call it, smoke.

gabe could probably make one hell of an operating system, but then games would have to work with it and unless he wants to recode a bunch of game (or make a bunch of people recode them), i dunno

its already being done, Steam Box

I wouldn't buy it if it could only run steam games and a browser. What about my non-steam games that I play? Other programs such as recording, messaging, and streaming, dropbox?

where the hell have I bee-
I thought it was the Gabecube
Yeah, that's not coming out.

this is basically why this won't happen
it's also why there's really just 2 major operating systems

Ok spend a couple thousand for a gaming laptop so you can do whatever the hell you want, or you can buy just a (guessing about 300 bucks) on a laptop that just runs steam.

Windows 9 will be better, windows is a crap-great-crap-great system, it's just at crap currently.

Instead of wasting their time and resources on that stupid Steam TV thing, they should've done this.

Um sure. 300 bucks for something as good as a couple thousand (which means 2000). Valve will make lots of money off that!

Theyre not factoring in the fact that the laptop would have to be able to PLAY the games. No point in having a steam only computer and then its not powerful enough to play games. 300 dollars my ass.
