Torchlight II is an upcoming action RPG developed by Runic games, this game is of course very similar to the Diablo and Fate franchises However unlike Diablo 3, the rest of the games were developed by the same people, you see, Runic games used to be part of Blizzard North until more than 30 employees left to start their own company. Now as a followup to their 2009 hit Torchlight, Torchlight II has been in development for 2 years now and is going to be released today. The game features a skill tree system, stat points and the unique pet system. Your pet can do many things, fight, learn spells, wear trinkets, carry items, sell items and even buy items.
The game will also support steam workshop since Torchlight was very mod heavy and Runic games embraces the modding community. There will be official servers you can join that has no mods allowed, and you have the un-official servers which may have mods installed or not.
The game has four character classes.
Berserkers are the most ferocious fighters of the Valgang tribes of the icy north. Driven by a hunger for fame and glory, they head south, seeking adventure
Embermages are highly-trained soldiers of the Empire who have studied the magical properties of ember and -- unlike Alchemists -- have learned to replicate its effects without actually drawing power from the mineral directly.
Engineers are the technological experts of the Empire, and are responsible for constructing and maintaining its Herkonian Embercraft transports. They have come to the continent of Vilderan to help open up the frontier, oversee ember mines, and explore ancient dwarven ruins.
Outlanders are nomadic explorers who search the world for treasure and hidden magic. There is no formal organization of Outlanders; they are former outlaws, thieves and pirates.
PLOT
Years ago an ancient creature, Ordrak, who lived under the town of Torchlight was slain by 3 heroes, The Destroy, The Vanquisher and the Alchemist. Lately the Alchemist has become obsessed with the dangers of Ember and the Ember blight, he was strangely never cured from the disease, and eventually steals ordrak's heart and destroys the town of Torchlight. He eventually travels to the Estherian Steppes and begins siphoning magical energy from the elemental guardians, powerful beings who balance the six elements. Now it is up to new heroes to follow the Alchemists path of destruction and clean up the mess he made.
