requires pokemon fire red rom to run. Anyone who discusses them playing the game will be labeled a PIRATE for downloading roms of nintendo games.

you're literally Riddler

just messin around. a fair reminder just so nobody gets superforgeted later on.

Just because I don't have the necessary tools to rip the ROM does not mean I do not have the right to use it, I've never even owned a GBA but I bought a Fire Red cart because ~morals~ and I play it on my phone

It's really fun, but man it has a lot of bugs.

So wait, I'm allowed to have the rom if I've bought the cart? I have it somewhere around here.

Law states a ROM copy of a game is only legal if you ripped it yourself off of a legally-purchased hard copy of the game, and you cannot distribute it to anyone ever.
This poses a major setback to anyone who does want to legally own ROMs because to my knowledge
none of you are able to do that lol

pixelated games are starting to get mainstream now.

are you serious

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

Morality != Legality

I even said because ~morals~

I mean if I cared about the legal side of things I'd check up on any licenses that came with the game to see if second copies are legal (odds are, the license also covers removing the ROM from the cart so it's also illegal to rip it)
MORALLY SPEAKING - WHICH IS THE IMPORTANT PART, FRANKLY - it's fine if you have a copy of the ROM while also owning a legitimate copy of the game. You've paid for the game, if you want to play it elsewhere there's nothing wrong with that.
Uploading the ROM and thus enabling piracy however is a moral blackspot. For every legitimate downloader there's going to be tens if not hundreds of illegitimate ones, thus if you upload it (or allow it to seed from a torrent) you are still in the wrong.

Frankly, legality can suck my richard. I have enough confidence in my own moral compass to know if what I'm doing is wrong or right given that I know what I am doing and what it entails. If I don't have enough information, I would follow the legal advisory for the situation as a guideline. If I feel I have enough information to form my own judgement, I will do so.

Frankly I'm not sure why people pirating 10 years old games really gets people all wiled up. Nintendo is not making any money off of it anyway, and the only way to "Pay for it" now is to just give your money to either chinese bootleggers or private sellers.
Whatever. I already got myself a copy of fire red anyway. Time to playa the game.

EDIT: Dang, it doesn't work anyway. Screw it.

If Nintendo really cared they could just sell ripped rom files on their website.

im so happy
i met someone who seemed to get me to rage at first
